Lumos MIPS Helmet S/M

Very happy with my purchase. I replaced an older version from 2016. This ticks all the boxes. It's great there are now two sizes. The S/M is a better fit for me. The delivery time was very speedy and seamless. Wouldn't be without it! Totally recommend these helmets to anyone who needs to ride in darkness

Really nice

Really Nice product. However the sensor use for brake light could be a little bit more sensitive. One other feature that would be much appreciated is distress lights

It came in a used and previously opened box

And was mildly dirty. I kept it. I never write reviews. The product is fine.

Really pleased with this helmet. Have had lots of comments on how great it is and where did I get it.

I need to return due to fit & not thrilled with the visor. Still waiting response on the return. Planning on ordering a different one without the visor

Great product & customer service; hope hardware resists time & software matures

TL;DR:
Expensive but very satisfying:
- beautiful design, large choice of colours
- efficient aerodynamics: although heavier than average helmets, you easily forget about it and the winter kit and eyeshield make the ride incredibly comfortable
- tech features are great but customer service was needed to make them work

-----------------------
- Eyeshield and Winter-kit are a great plus for e-bikers looking to reduce amount of gear needed in everyday rides (to work, running errands, going out at night, concerts, movies, etc):
- with the eyeshield protecting (sun)glasses or contact lenses from the weather, you don't have to pack or even think about extra riding shades (wind) or cyclist cap (rain/sun) and can just wear your regular (sun) glasses, which are a bitch to wipe when raindrops fog your vision
- the winter kit is surprisingly comfortable, keeps your head dry and warm in the winter rain, and protects your ears from the cold, wind, rain and snow whille keeping a finger's width spacebetween it and your ears; this keeps earbuds both safely encased yet accessible for touch commands

- Customer service has been efficient for initial troubleshooting: issues with app-helmet connectivity and helmet firmware update. The connectivity solution to my specific issue was shortly provided in a simple, clear manner. Although it should appear on FAQ page, as it seems to be a common issue with Android 13/&14. Better yet: the solution should be provided in-app as well, which is the case for the firmware update issue, showing reactivity by a capable team that you can trust will solve your issues and anticipate them.

- I hope this pricey helmet's tech will endure the passage of time (battery, lights, firmware, etc.). The "non-tech" hardware surely looks and feels sturdy, showing signs of efficient, durable design.

- Lumos seems reactive and dedicated to making the best of hardware to provide software-driven improvements and new features.

- Hope the price of compatible gear and the rest of the Lumos catalogue will go down a bit: Firefly lights and accessories are disproportionately expensive, which is a shame because riding with a full Lumos gear & ecosystem sure helps keep you visible and safe on the road, but cost at least double what you'd expect even from a high-quality product with similar features.

- Lumos seems to be capitalising on the "Apple" effect that integrated ecosystems with great design can have on customers who are willing to pay for "exclusivity" and consider their consumer choices as parts of their identity.

(Not judging: we all do this identity-via-consumerism shit at a certain level. But I'd rather not dedicate 50% of the price tag to 'being cool' and would rather actually spend more than I did if it hadn't feel like I was paying more for the "lifestyle as a product" bullshit than for the actual product.

I mean, Seriously, Lumos!, your Smart Bike Lights range is ridiculously and unjustifyingly expensive; €50+ (fiftyfuckingeuros) for a single [1; uno/een/one/ein/un] led-light, are you shitting me?!

However 'smart' the Firefly Light is, ~€50+ is outrageously similar to already overpriced Phillips Hue products that objectively outrange the Firefly specs. Yet Hue doesn't pretend to care for the safety of people either chosing not to have a car or being unable to afford one (dense cities have started banning private combustion engines after set dates), so you're not making it easy to care for road safety and air quality and greenhouse gas emissions without being associated with a rich douche's hip & fashionable lifestyle - which everything associated with the "e-bike over car" choice is definitely not.

But yeah, great product! Move it. By-ye)

Best product to-date

I've tried so many head-warmers for winter cycling and found them to be either too thin, too bulky or just plain uncomfortable and quite often slip inside the helmet. The Lumos Winter Liner was just the trick. Very comfortable and very warm, and did exactly what I thought it would do - it kept my head both warm and dry. Particularly felt the benefit with the large ear coverage. I would recommend this for any serious winter cyclist. A brilliant product.

Great products, deliver them from an obvious return

i like the products, both the helmet and the interior protection for cold. I keep them and claim nothing and wont make noise. BTW, i never write in in these things. But i was shocked that the packages had been pre opened and the interior protection, a bit dirty. Thanks.

5 Star Retailer

Replace my Helmet without question having not used it since I purchased it some years ago as the lacquer on the helmet was flaking. Got the new replacement helmet within days. Brilliant Customer Service that many companies could learn from.

Bike Charging Cradle

The cradle is simple to use, neat and tidy and is easy to see when charging is done. I like the construction of the charging cables, not being plastic.

Sicherheit totale

Not delivered yet!

Still waiting for the cables. Lumos is using a completely unreliable shipping company. Cables landed in Vancouver two weeks ago and the last mile - literally just one mile from the airport 4PX or PDN Express our order is still in transit. The latest - a bogus message about holiday closure in middle of January !?! We need these silly cables because Lumos made them intentionally non-standard. Okay, this is their right, but if that is the case then they should also deliver them when someone order them.

Extremely suspicious set up

I can't speak to the performance or quality of the product itself as it was a gift and it didn't fit the recipient, so I requested a return. I have never had to deal with a more convoluted and dodgy returns process. Apart from the fact that I received a helmet in the post, I have no idea if I'm dealing with a real company. It's all super weird. The shipping takes ages (direct from Hong Kong or China, I assume), then their supposedly (I quote) "30 day hassle free returns" is the most hassle I've had to go through for a return possibly ever, and I'm still not convinced I'll get my money back. They do at least make it clear upfront they don't cover costs of returns, but that's fairly standard. Where it gets weird is that you contact the helpdesk, then they give you what looks like a random residential address to send the helmet to. Except you have to handwrite a note to put in there with the serial number of the helmet on it, plus a list of everything in the order (because they can't look it up...?). They don't make how to do any of this very clear, so I basically plastered my order number anywhere I could (it was already ringing alarm bells as an odd process). Then you post to said random residential address somewhere in London (although who knows, maybe they vary the address? There doesn't seem to be a business registered to that address so no way to check it is legit associated with Lumos). Apparently someone at this address then sends it to a warehouse somewhere else, where the helmet will be "inspected" for "resale" condition. So in other words, you pay for postage, send it to some random person's home (no name given as to who you should address the delivery to), then they post it somewhere else (presumably back to China or Hong Kong?). Only then do they confirm (supposedly, I'm still waiting with no update at all for about a week after the parcel was confirmed as delivered to the address they gave me) that the return has been accepted. So it could get damaged or lost in onwards transit, completely out of your control, and I guess you don't then get your refund. Seems utterly scammy and weird, and far from "hassle free". As much as I'd love to support independent and innovative start ups and avoid using Amazon etc, I seriously suggest if you want one of these helmets, buy through a third party stockist like Amazon or a physical bike shop so you have some protection (either for failure to deliver or refunds/returns, or I guess for general consumer protection). These helmets are not cheap, and ultimately they are safety kit - it's just too much to gamble on an untraceable company with no business premises in the UK, seemingly not subject to UK laws (their T&Cs claim to fall under jurisdiction of State of Delaware) and, presumably, therefore lacking in any protection or recourse for UK consumers. It's also not clear exactly how this works - you buy from a company, but return to an individual?

That's a great helmet!

Lumos ULTRA MIPS Ebike.
Use it with winter liner and an e-scooter in cold Europe and it works great! I like the windshield for my eyes, it holds away the icy wind!
