v1 handlebar end mount kept reliably breaking. It was so frustrating to lean my bike against any wall as the plastic would easily crack or chip. Even just general wear would cause it to decay. The new design is much more simple and sturdy. It is very purpose built and made it easy to attach the firefly minis. Glad they updated it!
I bought the new version of the handlebar end mount to replace the broken originals.
The mechanism to hold the mount inside the bars is superior. The original broke even if you slightly over tighten it. But the new version isn’t angled out like the original and doesn’t have the rubber pad to lean against a wall or surface. The description of the item was not updated when I bought them, so I expected to receive a design similar to the original.
Pretty disappointing.
The original mounts were poor. The expanding prongs broke easier if even slightly over tightened. If not tightened enough, they became loose and fell out. These newly designed mounts are so much better, and I don't anticipate any problems with them.
